MaterialsThe library has over 19,000 material holdings that include books, audiobooks, magazines, newspapers, and DVD's. Within these materials, we have both Fiction and Non-fiction, Large Print, Inspirational Fiction, Westerns, Boardbooks, Leveled Readers, Early Chapter books, Graphic Novels, and more. We strive to offer current bestsellers!
If you cannot find what you are looking for, we can Interlibrary Loan the item from another library for FREE. In addition, we have 3 digital libraries that have downloadable eBooks, audiobooks, movies, music, and more. See the homepage where you can access all of them! The library also has copies on our desktop computer of our local Mendon-Dispatch newspaper in files that are searchable dating back to 1878. Other files on our desktop computer include access to the Unity High School yearbooks. Our Local History section also houses local cemetery records, census records, and other local history items donated by local library patrons. All can be viewed at the library. |
Library ProgramsThe library hosts monthly programs that include the following: Storytime on Wednesdays at 10 a.m. All children 0-5 in the area are welcome. No reservations needed. Participants enjoy great stories, songs, a craft, and a snack. Maker's Lab is an after-school hands-on program for area K-5th graders. The program occurs once a month, on a Thursday, from 3:15-5 pm. Registration is appreciated, but not required. LEGO Club for area K-5th graders once each month on a Monday at 6:30 p.m. Participants will build a creation around a specified "theme". There is also a time for "show & tell". Registration is appreciated, but not required. Full S.T.E.A.M Ahead: Homeschool Edition is a program for area homeschool families. All ages are invited to attend and the topics vary each month. The program is hosted once a month on a Monday from 2-4 pm. Our Cover 2 Cover Book Club meets once each month on the 4th Wednesday at 7 p.m. for discussion. The library will supply the books for each month's discussion, and adults who would like to participate are invited. Come join other book lovers!! In addition, we offer an annual Summer Reading program for all ages! Meeting/Program Room Local community non-for-profit organizations can reserve the meeting space of the new addition using the form below. Either print it out and bring it into the library or you can get a form at the circulation desk to fill out. |
Technology ServicesIn today's digital age, the library has evolved to offer more than books. We offer FREE Wifi with access to a desktop computer with Windows 10 and MacBooks. Each computer comes with Microsoft Office. You are invited to bring your device to access as well.
We also provide a Community Hotspot! It is located at the southeast shelter house in Chittenden Park. The password is Library1234. We also offer hotspots and laptops to check out to our patrons who are "in good standing". Purchased using American Rescue Act funds awarded by the Secretary of State/IL State Library using funds provided by the U.S. Institute of Museum & Library Services. You can also BOOK-A-LIBRARIAN for one-on-one basic computer training. We can also help you set up your device for using our digital libraries. Additional ServicesOur newest service is access to our Makerspace! Kids can enjoy access to LEGOs, a playhouse, blocks, puzzles, crafting supplies, Kids Kindle Fires, and so much more any time the library is open! Children under the age of 11 must be accompanied by a responsible caregiver. We only ask that you clean up after yourself.
For our adults who like crafting, we provide access to a Cricut where you can make cards, cut vinyl for crafts and more! Are you HOMEBOUND due to accident, illness or injury? Call us at 936-2131 to deliver materials to you! The library also has a printer, scanner, and copier available for public use. The charge to print or copy is .15 per page. |
