Interlibrary Loan
Interlibrary loan is the process of borrowing an item from another library. If we don't own an item, then we can request it for you through interlibrary loan. Make requests to any library staff member in person, telephone, or email. Interlibrary loans generally take 7 to 10 days. We make every effort to obtain items requested through interlibrary loan. Sometimes, however, materials are simply not available. Patrons will be notified by telephone if their interlibrary loan requested items are not available.
Four Star Public Library attempts to fill all requests free of charge. Materials that are available from libraries within the state of Illinois are generally free to borrow.
If an item must be requested from outside the state, postage and other fees may be incurred. These fees are the responsibility of the patron and must be paid at the time of checking out.
Interlibrary loans will not be processed for anyone under the age of 18 without a parent's permission. Interlibrary loan will also not be processed for anyone who is not in good standing.
Loan periods are set by the lending library and renewals may not always be possible. We will interlibrary loan 3 requests per person per week. If an interlibrary loan item is lost or damaged, the patron is responsible for whatever amount the Four Star Public Library is charged by the lending library.
